Manual capturing and georeferencing of selected objects in public spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic based on street survey data.
The cloud-based web viewer for road inspection data makes it possible to access city-wide road inspection data even without a VPN connection to the city's IT infrastructure. This measure enabled employees to remain operational and replaced field assignments at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on detailed digitization instructions, semantic and spatial information on traffic lights, street lighting, parking ticket machines, traffic cameras and billboards in the street space could be collected. This data provides the basis for linking the georeferenced objects with the corresponding specialist systems, such as traffic control, parking space management, traffic monitoring and the lighting register with the Digital Twin Munich. Throughout the course of the pandemic, the SaaS solution also supported the approval and inventory of the Schani-Gardens, open-air bar areas that were set up in the street space by removing parking spaces and enabled gastronomy and city life to continue.
